Zapata's Scholarship Recipient #2

Hi all,

I'm very excited to announce the second of the three scholarship recipients that I have chosen for Zapata's Scholarship. Her name is Cruz Fernanda and I will be awarding her $300 for her fall semester at UC Berkeley.

Here is a short "about me" for the second winner...

My name is Cruz Fernanda Frausto-Bonilla. While I go by simply, ‘Fernanda Frausto.’ My full name is representative of my mixed cultural heritage rooting from El Salvador and Mexico and the sacrifices my ancestors made for me to be where I am today. I am Pomona raised and a freshman majoring in Political-Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout high school, my passion for social justice and advocacy in my city led me to be a youth organizer within the Pomona Students Union and be a leader in the fight for change in my city. Fighting for issues for my people is how I will lead my life. My aspirations for my future include becoming a lawyer, writer, and one day opening up my own non-profit community organization in the Los Angeles area to help students like me, who are their own advocates, parents, and role models. I hope to become the person I needed in my youth for the future youth of Pomona and the LA area.

Thank you to everyone who has ordered these past few months because without your support I would not be able to do this. I'm happy that my vision is becoming reality and I am very grateful for every one of you!
